Events at Adams
The Adams Parent Association works in partnership with the school to provide fun, enriching events and to build an inclusive community for all students and their families.
Read below about the different events we host at Adams, as well as what it might look like to volunteer at each. These events cannot continue without parent volunteers and opportunities always exist, whether you can give a lot or a little!
Block Party
September 18 • 5:30 - 7:00 pm
The Adams Block Party + Open House is our first family event of the new school year and is a great opportunity to build community at Adams!
First, stop inside to chat with your student’s teacher about the year’s curriculum and what to expect in the classroom. Then, join us out on the blacktop for an evening of fun. Come out to meet members of our local police and fire departments, learn about our local library, meet with Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, or participate in activities from organizations like Maxtivity and KidSpirit. Hope to see you there!
Jog-A-Thon
October
Our Jog-A-Thon encourages all students to get active and move their bodies! This event is also a fundraiser for APA, helping us to raise money for other events, enrichment activities, and to enable us in helping our school throughout the year. This year, we’ll be reimagining the Jog-A-Thon and hosting it outdoors in October, so stay tuned for info and learn about what to expect.
We always need volunteers to help us track student laps for this event. Want us to keep you in mind for a volunteer shift? Send us an email!
Book Fair + Kickoff (Open Gym)
November 14-21
Our Book Fairs are a favorite Adams tradition, held twice each school year! Students and families are invited to browse a wide variety of books and discover new favorites to take home. These events not only encourage a love of reading, but also raise funds to support our school library and APA programs throughout the year.
For our Fall Book Fair, we’ll also host a kickoff event with Open Gym on Friday, November 14 where families can find new books and kids can run + play at the school!
Heritage Day
February 13
Heritage Day is a school-run event that APA helps in supporting. This is a special celebration of the many cultures and backgrounds that make up our Adams community! Families are invited to share food, games, traditions, and activities that represent their heritage during this fun evening event. Earlier in the day, students will also enjoy a school-wide assembly, giving everyone a chance to learn more about and appreciate the diverse traditions within our community.
STEAM Night
March 5
STEAM Night is an exciting hands-on evening where students and families can explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math together! Local organizations and vendors host interactive booths, experiments, and projects that spark curiosity and creativity. From building and problem-solving to discovering new ideas, this event is a chance for students to learn in fun, engaging ways outside the classroom.
Book Fair + Kickoff (Sock Hop)
April 3-10
Our Book Fairs are a favorite Adams tradition, held twice each school year! Students and families are invited to browse a wide variety of books and discover new favorites to take home. These events not only encourage a love of reading, but also raise funds to support our school library and APA programs throughout the year. For our Spring Book Fair, we’ll also host a kickoff event with Sock Hop on Friday, April 3 where students can come participate in a retro dance in the school gym.
Fine Arts Night
Spring
Fine Arts Night is our annual celebration of creativity at Adams! In past years, this event has featured a showcase of student artwork from throughout the year, along with musical performances from our talented students. Families have also enjoyed activities like raffles and auctions in support of the arts at our school. We’re still shaping what this year’s event will look like, but it will remain a special evening to highlight and celebrate the many artistic gifts of our students.
Carnival
May 29
Our end-of-year Carnival is a highlight for Adams families and a fun way to celebrate the close of the school year!
Students can enjoy bounce houses, games, and activities, while families gather for concessions and food trucks. It’s a fun evening full of laughter, community, and celebration before we head into summer break.
Field Day
June
Field Day is a favorite Adams tradition that brings students outside to celebrate the end of the school year with fun and play! The day is filled with games, field activities, bubbles, chalk, hula hoops, and plenty of laughter. To top it all off, everyone cools down with popsicles as we wrap up another great year together. This event requires lots of volunteers, so stay tuned for info on how you can help!
